The Greater Alliance Carnation Festival Board is pleased to announce Daniel Cherry III as the keynote speaker for the 2019 Carnation Festival Community Breakfast.

Daniel Cherry is the Chief Marketing Officer of Activision Blizzard Esports, overseeing all marketing, communications, brand strategy, and social media for the Overwatch League, Call of Duty World League, and all Activision Blizzard Esports portfolio properties.

Daniel was named to Sports Business Journal’s prestigious 40 Under 40 list and is part of a growing group of sports executives who have joined Activision Blizzard to blaze new trails in the rapidly expanding world of esports.

Daniel brings over 20 years of marketing experience to this new role, most recently serving as chief marketing and innovation officer for the three-time Stanley Cup Champion New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center arena, where he oversaw all marketing & sales strategy, branding, and innovation.Prior to that role, Daniel served as the senior vice president of marketing and vice president of consumer planning & research at DIAGEO N.A.

Prior to joining DIAGEO, he was the Chief Marketing Officer of the legendary soccer club The New York Cosmos, led by club President and global soccer icon Pelé. Daniel helped establish a $30 million valuation and buyout of the re-launched Cosmos brand.

Previously, Daniel was a Managing Partner & Director of Brand Strategy at AdAge’s 2017 Agency of the Year Anomaly, which was named one of one of FAST COMPANY Magazine’s “World’s Most Innovative Companies” (ranked #24 in 2008). Daniel worked with his advertising godfather Dan Wieden at Wieden+Kennedy, where he led brand strategy on Nike, the Jordan Brand, and ESPN. His work on Nike included the 2007 GRAMMY nominated.

Daniel Cherry III was born in Alliance, Ohio and attended boarding school in California. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He is the proud husband and father of wife Melanie and daughters Sidney and Sienna.

The Community Breakfast will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019, 8:00 a.m. at the University of Mount Union Hoover Price Campus Center. Also, during the breakfast, the “2019 Citizen of the Year”, “Grand Parade Marshal”, and ‘Favazzo-Jeswald Founders Award” winners will be announced.
